Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Dane Hartman ("we," "us," or "our") collects and uses information when you use KaraokeSmith. We take your privacy seriously and collect as little data as possible.

1. What We Collect

Purchase information. When you buy a license, Paddle (our payment processor) provides us with your email address so we can deliver your license key. We store your email address alongside your license key in our systems for customer support and key recovery purposes.

License activation data. We record whether your license key has been activated and basic usage counts to enforce the trial limit. No personal identifiers beyond your email are stored.

Error reports (opt-in). The app includes optional crash reporting via Sentry. This is opt-in and can be toggled in the app settings. If enabled, anonymized error data is sent to Sentry to help us fix bugs. No audio, lyrics, or file contents are ever included in error reports.

2. What We Do Not Collect

Your audio files, stems, exported videos, and project data never leave your machine. We do not collect usage analytics, behavioral data, or any information about what songs you process.

3. AI Lyric Correction (Optional)

If you enable AI lyric correction, your transcribed lyrics (text only – no audio) are sent to Anthropic's API for processing. This feature is optional and off by default. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle that data. Audio is never transmitted.

4. Third-Party Services

  • Paddle – payment processing and tax compliance. Paddle acts as the Merchant of Record and handles all payment data under their own privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare – infrastructure and license key storage.
  • Anthropic – AI lyric correction (opt-in, text only).
  • Sentry – crash reporting (opt-in).
  • Resend – transactional email for license key delivery.

5. Data Retention

We retain your email address and license record for as long as your license is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for support purposes. You may request deletion by contacting us.

6. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing us. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted by an updated "Last updated" date above.
